Project A rationale

For Network Media Productions Project A , I chose to do an Indigenous Australian issue. At first I was interested in doing a reference page on the Gap campaign that the government is currently trying to close the 20 year life expectancy of Indigenous People in our country. However after talking about what I was going to do with friends I discovered from a friend who is a journalist that there are people in Australia that deny that the Stolen Generation of Indigenous people ever happened, so being an Indigenous person I thought that not only will my choice of site show the facts but also show impartiality addressing one of the needs of this assignment.

The way I started to go with this assignment was html, I did get the html background and links and images working, but always looking up and trying to understand codes was really stressful. So with my remaining time I decided to drop the html approach and went with the Tumbler site. Because the tumbler site is almost a ready-made template I wanted my page to look different and play around with the structure of the page. Because copyright is a problem, I don’t have any images from years ago, I embedded the images using other sites url for there images. Hopefully I did that right! Finding information made me think of all the years of what the Stolen Generation had to experience. An example is the ‘Rabbit proof Fence’ not only was Molly taken to a home, but when she had children they were also taken as well. This made me think of a way I could illustrate the issue without a chunk of dates and information, so I chose to do a timeline and put that on my page.

Pages and websites I looked and found Ideas from, and knowledge showing site exposition, site structure, navigation and layout techniques is reconciliaction.org, being a good site that showed factual information and a good feel and navigation ease through the site.

Things I have learned while doing this assignment are tags, divs, embedding images adding youtube videos to a site. Some beginning code language for html, the only thing is working with a css page is what I need to improve on and definitely will give it another try.

How and what I think of my final piece is that it does offer a variety of reference to the current affair topic as I have government website links an overview of the topic and information on Australia’s most known opinion columnists on the stolen generations. Giving a rounded approach about issues and opinions of the Stolen Generation. http://stolengen10.tumblr.com/

week 3

In class we thought about what we will be doing for project A and I have decided on 'the gap' campaign to design a reference page for....Shall I make one or get a page like facebook or something? well I will decide by next week, but I am in favour of dong some html, because I always seem to get out of doing html cause I decide on another way to get my assignment saccross. But I have really wanted to do some html so I am probably going to go with that idea. The things I have learn't this week is that putting an image to work once put in html needs to be in the same place ur html document is. Because before when I would try and do it is was annoying me because everyone that I asked 'mates' they would be like nah it should work an dI was like then why is it not working for me? but now I can understand, but I bet that I will still be getting the same problem when I do html again, cause I think Iv'e solved the problem...its funny though because html is very sensitive, you can't leave one bit of information out. I'ts like opening up a box of puzzles if you don't pack up everything and leave something out it will be missing and look all messy. And also something else and why I havn't been able to use html is because I wasn't changing it to plain text. Well thank goodness for my tutorial!

week2

Ok first week of this blogging. So I have never had a blog account so this is my first entry. This weeks lecture talked about blogs and the privacy that goes with having a blog. My view on this week so far is that it is all new, although you hear about these blogs and pages. I didn't ever think I would actually make one of these things and talk about what ever about my week. In this week of network media so far, I'm thinking project A will be quite interesting, maybe might do a Australian Indigenous affair reference page. It's all new so maybe see how I go in a couple of weeks, hopefully start writing some interesting stuff.
